The Solicitors Qualifying Examination is the single route to qualifying as a solicitor of England and Wales. It has two stages. SQE1 tests functioning legal knowledge through two papers called FLK1 and FLK2, each of 180 single-best-answer questions. SQE2 tests practical legal skills. You may sit SQE1 without any prior qualification, but a degree or its equivalent, two years of qualifying work experience and a character and suitability assessment are all required before you can be admitted as a solicitor.

How to become an Advocate-on-Record — the complete route to the Supreme Court examination

Only an Advocate-on-Record may file a matter and act for a party in the Supreme Court of India. The qualification is governed by Order IV of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013. The route has three parts that must happen in order: four years of continuous enrolment as an advocate, then one year of training under a practising Advocate-on-Record, then the examination itself, which has four papers.

How to sit UGC NET in December 2026 — Law (058) and Criminology (068), step by step

UGC NET decides eligibility for Assistant Professor posts and for the Junior Research Fellowship, and is also accepted as an eligibility route for PhD admission. It is a single computer-based test of two papers taken in one sitting. Paper I is common to all candidates and tests teaching and research aptitude. Paper II is your subject: Law is code 058 and Criminology is code 068.
