Welcome to NISM Series XXIV — AML & CFT in Securities Markets. This video uses a clearly labelled original exercise to explain a subject idea and how to practise it through the learning management system. Preparation support for NISM Series XXIV — AML & CFT in Securities Markets. This is independent educational preparation; official certification is conducted by the relevant authority. Sign in and open your authorised course from the study header. Choose the relevant subject lesson. Start Course Tutor with Auto audio on. It teaches continuously, answers a typed question and then resumes. Section 11A of the PMLA concerns verifying the identity of clients and beneficial owners. Section 12AA addresses enhanced due diligence for specified transactions. A clear ownership calculation can help analyse a file, but it does not replace the applicable legal definition or a control assessment. In this invented training file, Holding Company H owns 80 percent of customer company C. Mira owns 60 percent of H and Dev owns its other 40 percent. The remaining 20 percent of C is held by another party. Calculate Mira and Dev's indirect economic interests in C. Multiply along each ownership chain. Mira has 60 percent of an 80 percent holding: 0.60 times 0.80 equals 0.48, or 48 percent of C. Dev has 0.40 times 0.80, or 32 percent. Together they account for H's 80 percent holding. The arithmetic checks: 48 plus 32 plus the other 20 equals 100 percent. Record the ownership chain and supporting documents. Apply current beneficial-ownership and control rules separately; these percentages alone are not a complete compliance decision. Ask Course Tutor: Why do we multiply the percentages instead of adding them? Include the given facts and the step you tried. Each person owns a fraction of H's fraction of C. Adding would incorrectly treat the two layers as separate direct holdings. A parent owns 75 percent of a customer company. An individual owns 40 percent of that parent. What indirect economic percentage does this chain represent? Pause the video before the answer. 0.75 times 0.40 equals 0.30, or 30 percent. Show both layers and keep the calculation distinct from the legal identification and verification steps. Compare your reasoning, return to any mistaken step and write a short explanation in your own words. Then continue to the next relevant lesson. Use Stop to end Course Tutor when you finish.
