Welcome to NSQF / NQR Qualification Preparation — Retail. We will study Retail Terminology and Store Metrics: SKU, Footfall, Conversion, ATV, UPT and Margin, work through an example, and practise using the course's learning material. Training support for current NSQF-aligned qualifications in the Retail sector. The exact qualification, level, occupational standard, practical requirements and awarding body are selected from the current National Qualifications Register before enrolment. Sign in and use the study header to open your authorised course. Select this published lesson. Start Course Tutor with Auto audio on: it teaches continuously, answers a typed question, then resumes. Conversion rate = number of transactions divided by footfall times 100. Shows how many visitors buy. Low conversion suggests customers are not helped, stock is missing, or prices and offers are not clear. Average transaction value (ATV) or average bill value = net sales divided by number of transactions. Example 1 — A day's store report (invented figures). Footfall 1,200; transactions 300; net sales ₹4,50,000; units sold 750; selling area 3,000 sq ft. Conversion = 300 divided by 1,200 times 100 = 25 per cent. ATV = 4,50,000 divided by 300 = ₹1,500. UPT = 750 divided by 300 = 2.5. ASP = 4,50,000 divided by 750 = ₹600. Sales per sq ft = 4,50,000 divided by 3,000 = ₹150 per sq ft for the day. Check: ATV = UPT times ASP = 2.5 times 600 = ₹1,500. And footfall times conversion times ATV = 1,200 times 0.25 times 1,500 = 300 times 1,500 = ₹4,50,000. Both match. Which mistake would change the reasoning in this example? Using footfall instead of transactions to calculate ATV. Correction: ATV divides sales by the number of bills. Confusing margin and markup. Correction: margin is on selling price; markup is on cost price. Counting a product in three sizes as one SKU. Ask Course Tutor: please explain this step from the example. ATV = 4,50,000 divided by 300 = ₹1,500. UPT = 750 divided by 300 = 2.5. ASP = 4,50,000 divided by 750 = ₹600. Why does it follow? Add what you tried, so the explanation addresses your difficulty. Now try the source practice. A store has 800 visitors and 240 bills. What is the conversion rate? Pause before the answer. The source answer is: 240 divided by 800 times 100 = 30 per cent. Compare your reasoning as well as the result. If your response differs, return to the worked example and identify the step that needs correction. Explain the key idea in your own words, revisit any mistaken step, then continue to the next lesson. Use Stop to end Course Tutor when you finish.
