Welcome to Judiciary Interview / Viva. We will study The Judicial Service Viva Voce: Stages, Interview Board and What Is Assessed, work through an example, and practise using the course's learning material. Interview, viva and personality-test preparation for judicial service candidates. Sign in and use the study header to open your authorised course. Select this published lesson. Start Course Tutor with Auto audio on: it teaches continuously, answers a typed question, then resumes. A useful way to think about it is the "three-question arc" that most boards follow, even if informally. The board opens with biographical questions drawn from your application form (education, home district, hobbies, reasons for choosing judicial service). Scenario. Ananya's application form records: LL.B. from a State university, two years' practice in a district court, hobbies "classical music and cycling", and a home district that has a large tribal population. Step 1 — Map the form to likely questions. Practice: "What was the last matter you argued? What order did you seek and what happened?" Home district: "Which special laws apply to Scheduled Areas? What is the role of the Gram Sabha?" (links to the Fifth Schedule and the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996.) Hobbies: "Cycling — what does the Motor Vehicles Act say about non-motorised road users?" or simply "Which raga relaxes you before a hard day?" The second is a temperament question, not a trap. Step 2 — Prepare the core legal block. Ananya lists the ten provisions she used most in practice (for example, Order XXXIX Rules 1 and 2 CPC, section 9 CPC, the bail provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, which replaced the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973) and prepares a sixty-second explanation of each with one leading authority. Step 3 — Prepare temperament answers. She writes three short situations (pressure from a relative, an aggressive advocate, a litigant in person who cannot follow procedure) and rehearses a calm, rule-based answer to each. Result. Instead of "preparing for the interview" in general, Ananya now has a thirty-item map built from her own profile, the core syllabus and the board's known focus. Which mistake would change the reasoning in this example? 1. Treating the viva as a formality. In a close merit list the viva often decides the rank. Correction: give it the same planned preparation as a main-examination paper. 2. Relying on second-hand figures for marks and qualifying standards. Ask Course Tutor: please explain this step from the example. Step 2 — Prepare the core legal block. Why does it follow? Add what you tried, so the explanation addresses your difficulty. Now try the source practice. Which Article of the Constitution governs recruitment of persons other than District Judges to the State judicial service? Pause before the answer. The source answer is: Article 234, under rules made by the Governor after consulting the State Public Service Commission and the High Court. Compare your reasoning as well as the result. If your response differs, return to the worked example and identify the step that needs correction. Explain the key idea in your own words, revisit any mistaken step, then continue to the next lesson. Use Stop to end Course Tutor when you finish.
