Welcome to Class 9 Complete Learning Programme — 6 Subject Package. We will study Algebra, work through an example, and practise using the course's learning material. 6 included subject courses: Class 9 English; Class 9 Hindi; Class 9 Mathematics; Class 9 Science; Class 9 Social Science; Class 9 Information Technology / AI Skills. Keep your board, session and medium selected. Degree is the highest power of the variable. A polynomial of degree 1 is linear (2x + 3), degree 2 is quadratic (x squared − 4), degree 3 is cubic (x cubed + 1). A non-zero constant such as 7 has degree 0. The zero polynomial has no defined degree. Example 9. Express 5x = 7 as a linear equation in two variables. Write 5x + 0y − 7 = 0. Here a = 5, b = 0, c = −7. Every point with x = 7/5 satisfies it, whatever y is. Which mistake would change the reasoning in this example? Calling square root of x or 1/x a polynomial. Fix: check that every exponent is a whole number before you use the word. Substituting x = a when dividing by (x + a). Fix: (x + 3) means (x − (−3)), so substitute x = −3. Ask Course Tutor: please explain this step from the example. Here a = 5, b = 0, c = −7. Why does it follow? Add what you tried, so the explanation addresses your difficulty. Now try the source practice. State the degree of 4x cubed − 7x⁵ + 2. Pause before the answer. The source answer is: 5. Degree is the highest power, not the first one written. Compare your reasoning as well as the result. If your response differs, return to the worked example and identify the step that needs correction. Explain the key idea in your own words, revisit any mistaken step, then continue to the next lesson. Use Stop to end Course Tutor when you finish.
